The 2024 Domaine Collotte Marsannay Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is an old-vine Pinot Noir from Marsannay at the northern end of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, produced from a selection of mature vines across the domaine's holdings. The cuvée typically draws from sites including Les Etailles, Les Grasses Têtes, Les Favières, En Combereau and Les Boivins, with vines generally over 40 years old and some approaching 80 years of age. The 2024 vintage was challenging in Burgundy, particularly during flowering, and Isabelle Collotte reported yields of only around 30 hl/ha for the reds, with small berries contributing additional concentration. All fruit is hand-harvested, carefully sorted and 100% destemmed, followed by a short cold maceration and gentle indigenous-yeast fermentation designed to preserve Pinot Noir's freshness and aromatic purity.
The wine is matured for approximately 10 months, split equally between tank and barrel, deliberately avoiding excessive extraction or oak influence. The 2024 is notably pale in colour but highly aromatic, showing rose petals, cherry, plum and strawberry with subtle spice and gentle savoury notes. The palate is fresh and energetic, with delicate, almost filmy tannins and an attractive sapid quality running through the fruit. Jasper Morris MW specifically highlighted the 2024's pronounced aromatics, racy freshness and old-vine character, recommending drinking from 2026–2028. This is not a vintage built around weight or power; its appeal lies much more in perfume, freshness and transparency.
