Gunderloch is one of Germany’s most historic and celebrated wine estates, located in the Rheinhessen region along the banks of the Rhine River. Founded in 1890 by banker Carl Gunderloch, the winery has become internationally recognised for producing exceptional Riesling that combines elegance, precision, and outstanding ageing potential.

The estate is based in Nackenheim and is best known for its ownership of the legendary Nackenheimer Rothenberg vineyard. This steep, south-facing site features distinctive red slate soils that are rare within Rheinhessen and highly prized for producing Rieslings of remarkable minerality, complexity, and longevity. The vineyard’s proximity to the Rhine River further enhances ripening conditions while preserving freshness and balance.

Gunderloch is particularly renowned for Riesling, producing wines across a range of styles from dry (Trocken) to off-dry and noble sweet expressions. The wines typically display aromas of lime, green apple, white peach, apricot, citrus blossom, and pronounced mineral notes.
