The 2022 Albert Mann Cuvée Albert Pinot Gris is a biodynamically farmed Alsace Pinot Gris from one of the region’s benchmark estates. Sourced from old vines in limestone and marl-rich vineyards around Wettolsheim and Kientzheim, the wine reflects Domaine Albert Mann’s commitment to organic viticulture and terroir-driven winemaking. It is a dry, modern expression of Pinot Gris that showcases purity, texture and minerality rather than overt richness.
The nose offers pear, melon, white peach and honeysuckle, with subtle floral notes and a distinctive chalky mineral character. The palate is textured and generous yet firmly dry, balancing ripe orchard fruit with refreshing acidity and a saline, mineral finish. James Suckling awarded the wine 93 points, praising its freshness, chalky minerality and excellent balance.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A superb Alsace Pinot Gris that offers far more complexity than the variety often receives credit for. Textural, mineral and highly food-friendly, it pairs beautifully with roast chicken, pork dishes, mushroom risotto, scallops and creamy seafood. Drinking beautifully now and should continue to evolve through 2028–2032.
