DISZNOKO

Disznókő is one of Hungary's most prestigious wine estates, located in the historic Tokaj wine region, internationally celebrated for producing exceptional Tokaji Aszú and dry Furmint. With vineyard origins dating back to the 18th century, the estate has established a reputation for its remarkable balance of richness, freshness and mineral precision, representing one of the finest expressions of Hungary's winemaking heritage.

Situated on the southern slopes of the Tokaj region, Disznókő occupies approximately 100 hectares of vineyards overlooking the Great Hungarian Plain. The estate's distinctive volcanic clay and rhyolite soils, combined with warm autumn days and cool, misty mornings, create ideal conditions for the development of Botrytis cinerea, the noble rot essential to the production of great Tokaji Aszú.

A significant transformation began in 1992, when the estate was acquired by AXA Millésimes, the French wine group associated with prestigious estates including Château Pichon Baron in Bordeaux. Substantial investment in vineyard restoration, modern winemaking facilities and traditional Tokaji production methods helped establish Disznókő as a benchmark for contemporary Hungarian fine wine.

The estate specialises in Furmint, Hárslevelű and Yellow Muscat, three traditional Tokaj grape varieties renowned for their aromatic complexity and naturally vibrant acidity.

Its flagship Disznókő Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos is celebrated for its extraordinary concentration and elegance, displaying aromas of dried apricot, orange marmalade, honey, saffron and candied citrus. Despite its generous sweetness, the wine retains remarkable freshness and structure, allowing it to develop beautifully over decades.

Disznókő Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos offers even greater concentration and complexity, combining luscious dried fruit, honeyed spice and intense mineral character with exceptional ageing potential.

The estate also produces Disznókő Tokaji Late Harvest, a more approachable expression of the region's sweet-wine tradition, alongside dry Furmint, which highlights the grape's citrus purity, textured palate and volcanic minerality.

Disznókő's philosophy combines meticulous vineyard selection, traditional noble-rot harvesting and precise cellar management. The resulting wines demonstrate why Tokaji has been celebrated for centuries as one of the world's greatest sweet-wine regions.

For collectors and enthusiasts of Sauternes, German Trockenbeerenauslese and other exceptional dessert wines, Disznókő offers a distinctive Hungarian interpretation, combining extraordinary richness with freshness, complexity and longevity.
