The 2023 Cascina Penna-Currado Bricco Lago is a beautifully refined Langhe Nebbiolo from Elena Penna and Luca Currado, the former owners and winemakers behind the legendary Vietti estate. Produced from vineyards in San Sebastiano, Monforte d’Alba, at elevated, cooler sites surrounded by woodland, the wine reflects the family's vision of creating elegant, climate-resilient Nebbiolo in the modern Langhe.
The vineyard sits on clay and limestone soils overlooking the only natural lake in the Langhe. Winemaking is intentionally gentle, with cold maceration, whole-berry fermentation and 8–12 months of barrel ageing, preserving purity and finesse rather than extraction and power.
The nose is vibrant and perfumed, offering aromas of raspberry, cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal and violet, complemented by subtle spice and earthy complexity. On the palate, it is polished and energetic, showing crisp red fruits, citrus lift, silky tannins and bright acidity. The style is approachable and elegant, yet unmistakably Nebbiolo in character.
