The 2022 Domaine Rossignol-Février Pommard Les Vigniots is an elegant and characterful expression of Côte de Beaune Pinot Noir, combining the naturally structured personality of Pommard with the finesse and precision of Domaine Rossignol-Février. The Les Vigniots parcel is planted on limestone and clay soils with a northeast exposure and is farmed biodynamically, with the grapes harvested entirely by hand. The 2022 vintage was particularly successful, producing fruit of exceptional ripeness and concentration while retaining the freshness and energy that define the domaine's wines. The result is a Pommard that is generous and expressive, yet still beautifully balanced.
The nose is expressive and inviting, revealing aromas of ripe cassis, crushed strawberry, red cherry and wild berries, layered with violet, dried rose and subtle earthy nuances. As the wine opens, notes of fresh mint, blood orange, liquorice, gentle spice and forest floor begin to emerge, adding complexity to the generous fruit. There is a lovely combination of dark and red berry character, with a subtle savoury quality that gives the wine depth while maintaining the freshness and aromatic lift of the 2022 vintage.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, supple and beautifully textured, with ripe blackberry, cassis, strawberry and dark cherry supported by fresh acidity and plush, finely grained tannins. The fruit is generous and concentrated without becoming heavy, while subtle notes of peppermint, blood orange, spice and earthy minerality add further definition through the palate. The wine has excellent balance and a smooth, polished texture, with enough structure to develop further complexity in bottle. The finish is long, fresh and savoury, leaving lingering flavours of ripe berries, mineral freshness, gentle spice and subtle herbal notes.
