2022 Domaine Marquis d’Angerville Volnay Premier Cru Taillepieds is one of the most structured and age-worthy expressions of Pinot Noir from Volnay. Compared to Champans, Taillepieds sits on higher, stonier slopes, giving the wine a more serious, mineral-driven and tightly structured profile.
The 2022 vintage shows layered aromas of black cherry, plum and raspberry, combined with rose petals, violet and wet stone minerality.
On the palate, it is sleek, intense and finely structured, with a deeper core of fruit, firm yet refined tannins and a strong mineral backbone. The finish is long, linear and slightly austere in youth, a hallmark of great Taillepieds.
This is a wine with "Pommard-like backbone but Volnay elegance" - more powerful than most Volnay, yet still precise and perfumed.
