Taittinger Prélude Grands Crus NV is a refined blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir, sourced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards in Champagne, presented here in a gift box. The cuvée brings together Chardonnay’s freshness and finesse with Pinot Noir’s depth and structure. Taittinger uses first-press juice only, selecting the finest portion of the pressing for this carefully balanced blend. The house specifies more than five years of cellar ageing before release, giving Prélude time to develop complexity while retaining its lively character. It is a particularly appealing expression of Taittinger’s emphasis on elegance, precision and texture.
Expect lemon, citrus peel, white peach and delicate floral notes, complemented by biscuit, almond and gentle toasted complexity. The palate combines refreshing acidity with a silky roundness, leading into a persistent, finely defined finish. Taittinger’s own tasting notes emphasise the progression from mineral freshness to floral aromatics, followed by citrus and white peach on the palate. Previous releases have also received 93 Points from Wine Enthusiast, with praise for their richness, texture and balance. As a non-vintage Champagne, individual releases can vary, but the cuvée’s defining appeal remains its combination of Grand Cru fruit, extended maturation and freshness.
