CHATEAU COS D'ESTOURNEL

Château Cos d’Estournel is a prestigious wine estate located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux, France. Founded in the early 19th century by Louis Gaspard d’Estournel, the château quickly rose to prominence thanks to the founder’s innovative approach to winemaking and international marketing. His fascination with the East inspired the estate’s iconic Moorish architecture, characterized by pagodas and ornate wooden doors imported from Zanzibar, making it a standout in the Médoc region.

Renowned for its exceptional red wines, it holds the distinguished status of a Second Growth (Deuxième Cru) under the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The estate’s vineyards span approximately 91 hectares, featuring gravelly soils ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon, which dominates the blend. Alongside Merlot, Petit Verdot, and occasionally Cabernet Franc, these grapes create full-bodied wines known for their complexity, rich structure, and excellent aging potential.
