The NV Champagne Laherte Frères Blanc de Noirs Brut Nature (Base 2023, Disgorged March 2025) is a beautifully pure grower Champagne that showcases the fruit-driven charm of Pinot Meunier alongside the structure and vinosity of Pinot Noir. Sourced from biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Vallée de la Marne and Coteaux Sud d’Épernay, the wine is a 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, naturally fermented in barrel and foudre, bottled with zero dosage and crafted to emphasise fruit intensity, chalky minerality and freshness.
The nose reveals fresh summer berries, pear, red flowers and citrus zest layered with chalk, almond and subtle spice. On the palate, it is vibrant and energetic, with fine bubbles, bright acidity and a beautifully saline mineral core. Layers of orchard fruit, dried pear and red apple unfold with freshness and precision, finishing long, dry and mouthwatering with impressive tension and balance.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A superb zero-dosage grower Champagne that balances richness, freshness and mineral precision. More expressive and Pinot-driven than the Blanc de Blancs, making it a fantastic match for charcuterie, roast chicken, duck rillettes, sushi, oysters or aged Comté. Drink now or cellar comfortably for 5–8 years.
