The Champagne Laherte Frères Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature NV (Base 2022) is a beautifully precise grower Champagne made entirely from Chardonnay from the chalkiest soils around Chavot and Épernay, with additional fruit from Premier Cru sites in Vertus and Voipreux. The biodynamically farmed vineyards combine chalk, chalky clay, flint and schist, giving the wine its distinctive saline and mineral character. The Base 2022 brings ripe citrus and orchard fruit, supported by reserve wines from the two preceding vintages for added depth and balance. Presented in a rare 3000ml format, it is particularly suited to extended ageing and special occasions.
On the palate, it is vibrant and finely textured, with a delicate mousse, lively acidity and layers of lemon, green apple and white peach. Citrus zest and white flowers are complemented by chalky minerality, oyster-shell salinity and subtle raw almond and brioche notes. Fermentation in small foudres and barrels, followed by time on fine lees, gives the wine added breadth and savoury complexity while preserving its energetic, linear character. With zero dosage, the finish is exceptionally dry, focused and persistent, leaving lingering citrus, chalk, saline and mineral notes.

At Wine More Cellars, this rare 3-litre format is an excellent choice for serious Champagne collectors, milestone celebrations and long dinners. The combination of mature Chardonnay, chalk-driven minerality, zero dosage and the larger bottle format gives it excellent ageing potential, with additional brioche, nutty and savoury complexity expected over time. Best enjoyed now for its precision or cellared for the next 10–15 years. Serve chilled with oysters, sashimi, seared scallops, butter-poached marron, grilled lobster, or aged Comté.
