The 2025 Quealy Tussie Mussie Pinot Gris is sourced from the Tussie Mussie Vineyard in Merricks North on the Mornington Peninsula, a site planted on deep red volcanic soils that promote slow ripening and excellent flavour development. Managed by the Quealy family, pioneers of Pinot Gris in Australia, the vineyard was originally a flower farm, giving rise to its charming name. The fruit is hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed and matured on lees to build texture and complexity while retaining freshness.
The nose offers pear skin, quince, jasmine and almond with hints of spice and wild honey. The palate is finely textured and generously flavoured, showing ripe orchard fruit, bright natural acidity and a long mineral finish. Richer and more expressive than a Pinot Grigio, it balances weight and complexity with impressive freshness and poise.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A beautifully crafted Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris with plenty of texture and personality. Rich enough to handle roast pork, chicken, mushroom dishes and creamy seafood, while remaining fresh and vibrant. Drinking superbly now and will continue to develop additional savoury complexity through 2028–2030.
