The 2024 Ahi Kā Blackmore Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from John Blackmore’s highly regarded single vineyard in Dillons Point, Marlborough. A collaboration between acclaimed winemaker Matt Thomson, Master of Wine Sophie Parker-Thomson and grower John Blackmore, Ahi Kā was created to showcase the quality and individuality possible from Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc through a genuine grower-winemaker partnership. The Blackmore Vineyard is widely regarded as one of the region’s finest sites, producing fruit of exceptional intensity and character.
The nose bursts with passionfruit, gooseberry, lime zest and elderflower, alongside subtle herbal and saline notes. The palate is vibrant and mouthfilling, combining tropical fruit richness with bright citrus, refreshing acidity and a distinctive mineral edge. Vinous awarded the wine 92 points, while the New Zealand International Wine Show awarded it Double Gold and 97 points, highlighting its purity, energy and impressive length.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A standout Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that offers far more complexity and texture than the category’s stereotype. Fresh, intense and beautifully balanced, it pairs perfectly with oysters, kingfish crudo, grilled prawns, goat’s cheese and Asian-inspired seafood dishes. Enjoy now and over the next 3–5 years while its vibrant fruit and freshness are at their peak.
