The 2023 Place of Changing Winds Harcourt Marsanne Roussanne (1500ml) is a powerful yet finely balanced Rhône-style white from the granite-rich soils of Harcourt in Victoria’s Bendigo G.I. Crafted by Rob Walters with a meticulous, minimal intervention approach, the wine combines full ripeness with precision, using fermentation and ageing in barrel, concrete egg and glass (Wineglobe) on fine lees to build texture and complexity. The nose is highly aromatic and layered, revealing ripe stone fruits such as nectarine and peach alongside citrus oil, green apple and subtle tropical hints. There are lifted floral notes—rose oil and apricot blossom—interwoven with almond, pastry and gentle spice, giving the wine both richness and aromatic finesse.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a glossy, textural mouthfeel balanced by vibrant natural acidity. Flavours of stone fruit, citrus and light honeyed elements are supported by savoury notes of nuts, spice and crushed rock minerality.
