The 2023 MDI Picolit is a distinctive skin-contact white from Mildura in Victoria’s Murray Darling region, made from the rare northern Italian Picolit variety. The nose is expressive with ripe stone fruit, apricot and citrus peel, complemented by floral notes, spice and a subtle savoury character.
On the palate, it is dry, concentrated and textural with bright acidity and gentle phenolic grip. The fruit was destemmed and left on skins until the end of winter before being pressed into seasoned hogsheads for further maturation, creating depth and structure while retaining freshness.
