The 2023 Lethbridge JD Drumborg Chardonnay is sourced from the cool-climate Drumborg region in Henty, where low-yielding vines grow on schist-rich soils that deliver exceptional tension and minerality. Crafted by Ray Nadeson and Maree Collis, the fruit is hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed and wild fermented in French oak before undergoing full malolactic fermentation, creating a Chardonnay of both precision and depth.
The nose shows white peach, nectarine, citrus and subtle flinty reduction, with hints of oak spice and crushed stone. The palate is finely structured and textural, combining cool-climate freshness with impressive concentration, vibrant acidity and a long mineral finish. The 2023 vintage's extended ripening season has produced a wine of remarkable balance, energy and ageing potential.
