The 2023 Immich-Batterieberg Briedeler Herzchen Riesling is a stunning dry Riesling from the historic Briedeler Herzchen Erste Lage vineyard in Germany's Mosel. Farmed organically by Gernot Kollmann, the steep south-east-facing vineyard is planted on distinctive grey and red slate soils, producing Rieslings renowned for their elegance, precision and mineral intensity. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured on full lees for around 10 months in a combination of stainless steel and large oak casks, the wine opens with captivating aromas of white peach, apricot and citrus blossom layered with flint, wet slate and delicate herbal notes. The 2023 vintage received 95 points from James Suckling and 94 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with vibrant acidity, exceptional concentration and a beautifully saline mineral backbone. Layers of ripe stone fruit and citrus are complemented by a fine chalky texture and remarkable precision, leading to a long, elegant finish with outstanding freshness and persistence. Graceful yet intensely structured, this is one of the finest expressions of Briedeler Herzchen to date, offering both immediate appeal and outstanding ageing potential.

The 2023 Immich-Batterieberg Briedeler Herzchen Riesling pairs beautifully with freshly shucked oysters, grilled lobster, seared scallops, sushi, roast chicken or fresh goat's cheese. Serve lightly chilled at 8–10°C and enjoy now, or cellar confidently through 2040 as its mineral complexity, texture and elegance continue to evolve.
