The 2023 Henschke Keyneton Euphonium is a Shiraz-led Barossa red presented here in a cellar-friendly 1500ml Magnum. The blend combines 65% Shiraz with 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, showing plum, blackberry, mulberry and blueberry alongside anise, clove, black pepper and savoury herbs.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and deeply flavoured, with fresh acidity and supple, fine-grained tannins supporting layers of blue and black fruit. Maturation for 17 months in French oak hogsheads, with only 10% new oak, adds structure without dominating the fruit, leading to a long and savoury finish.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for collectors who enjoy structured Barossa Shiraz blends with dark fruit, spice and savoury complexity. The 1500ml Magnum offers excellent cellaring potential, with Henschke suggesting 25+ years from vintage. Ideal with roast lamb, grilled steak, slow-cooked beef, mushroom dishes or aged hard cheeses.
