The 2023 Frankland Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is an organically grown Cabernet from Frankland River in Western Australia, sourced from the estate’s original 1988 plantings in the Isolation Ridge Vineyard. Ancient ironstone gravel and loam over clay contribute to its regional character. The nose shows blackcurrant, blood plum and bramble alongside redcurrant, rose, dried herbs and restrained cedar-like oak.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with generous blackcurrant and plum fruit, fresh acidity and persistent fine-grained tannins. Slow fermentation and extended maceration build structure, followed by 12–13 months in 500-litre French oak puncheons, with 20% new oak. The result is concentrated yet balanced, with savoury complexity and a mineral-driven finish.

At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Cabernet Sauvignon drinkers who enjoy structured Western Australian reds with concentrated dark fruit, fine tannins and savoury complexity. Delicious now, it also has excellent potential for further cellar development. Ideal with grilled steak, slow-cooked beef, roast lamb, mushroom ragù or aged hard cheeses.
