The 2023 Bruno Colin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées is a refined and mineral-driven Chardonnay from the northern part of Chassagne-Montrachet in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. Located close to the border with Saint-Aubin and above Les Vergers, Les Chaumées benefits from limestone-rich soils and a relatively cool position that brings freshness, precision and tension to the wine. Bruno Colin works a small 0.42-hectare parcel here, with Chardonnay vines planted in 1956, 1988 and 2003.
On the palate, it is generous yet vibrant, showing citrus, ripe orchard fruit and delicate floral notes alongside subtle brioche and almond complexity. Bright acidity and a fine saline minerality provide balance and definition, leading to a persistent, elegant finish. The wine is matured for 12 months in 350-litre oak barrels, with only 15–20% new oak, followed by a further 4–6 months in tank, allowing the vineyard character and freshness to remain at the forefront.
