The 2023 Andre Perret Marsanne is sourced from ungrafted (franc de pied) Marsanne vines grown on sandy, granite-influenced slopes in the Collines Rhodaniennes, just outside the great appellations of the Northern Rhône. André Perret is best known for his outstanding Condrieu wines, but this small-production Marsanne offers a wonderful introduction to the estate’s style, combining purity, freshness and exceptional value.
The nose shows white peach, pear, spring flowers and citrus blossom, with hints of almond and spice. The palate is fresh and finely textured, balancing ripe orchard fruit with bright acidity and a subtle mineral edge. Elegant rather than weighty, it finishes clean and vibrant, showcasing the charm and drinkability of young Marsanne.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A superb everyday Rhône white from one of the region’s most respected producers. Fresh, floral and beautifully balanced, it pairs effortlessly with grilled fish, prawns, roast chicken, creamy pasta dishes and soft cheeses. Best enjoyed over the next 3–5 years while its youthful fruit and freshness are at their peak.
