The 2021 Domaine Roblet-Monnot Volnay 1er Cru Les Vignes de Madeleine is a special cuvée created from the estate’s premier cru holdings in Volnay, including parcels from Taillepieds, Brouillards, Robardelles and Pitures. Produced by Pascal Roblet using organic and biodynamic principles, the wine reflects both the challenges and triumphs of the frost-affected 2021 vintage. Crafted with partial whole-bunch fermentation and extended ageing, it combines the perfume and elegance of Volnay with impressive concentration and structure.
The nose reveals rose petal, peony, red cherry and wild strawberry aromas layered with white pepper, cinnamon and subtle spice. The palate is silky and beautifully textured, with vibrant red fruit, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity creating a wine of remarkable balance and finesse. Elegant yet surprisingly concentrated, it finishes long and perfumed with a distinctive mineral lift and exceptional persistence.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A beautifully expressive Premier Cru Volnay that captures the grace and perfume of the appellation while offering impressive depth and ageing potential. Its elegance and complexity make it a superb match for duck, roast pigeon, veal, mushroom dishes and refined French cuisine. Enjoy from 2026 onwards or cellar through 2040+ as its floral character, savoury nuances and silky texture continue to evolve.
