The 2019 Picardy Merlimont is the estate's flagship Bordeaux-style blend from Pemberton, Western Australia, produced only in outstanding vintages. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it showcases the Pannell family's Old World-inspired approach, offering lifted aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant and bay leaf, complemented by notes of cedar, tomato bush, subtle spice and fine French oak. This is the final vintage of Merlimont, making it a notable release for collectors.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with vibrant natural acidity, refined tannins and impressive poise. Flavours of dark plum, black cherry and cassis are layered with savoury herbs, graphite and gentle oak, leading to a long, elegant finish with excellent structure. Matured for around 22 months in French oak, the wine is beautifully balanced and will continue to develop additional complexity over the next 15–20 years.
