The 2021 Albert Mann Pinot Noir Les Saintes Claires is sourced from a limestone-rich vineyard below the former Clarisses monastery near Sigolsheim in Alsace. Farmed biodynamically by the Barthelmé family, the site lies adjacent to Grand Cru vineyards and consistently produces Pinot Noir of exceptional finesse and mineral character. Matured for 16 months in French oak, it showcases the elegance that has made Albert Mann one of Alsace’s benchmark estates.
The nose reveals red cherry, raspberry and blood orange alongside rose petal, subtle spice and a touch of flinty minerality. Silky and refined on the palate, it balances vibrant red fruit with bright limestone-driven acidity and fine-grained tannins. Vinous awarded the wine 94 points, while Wine Advocate scored it 92 points, praising its graceful structure, purity and freshness.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A beautifully poised Pinot Noir that delivers a distinctly Burgundian feel while retaining its Alsatian identity. Elegant, mineral and highly food-friendly, it pairs wonderfully with duck, roast chicken, pork loin, mushroom dishes and charcuterie. Drinking beautifully now, but it has the balance and structure to evolve through 2035 and beyond.
