2020 Maison Champy Meursault

This is one of the few wines produced by Maison Champy which is entirely sourced from grower fruit. But these are exceptional sites which take full advantage of Mersault's abundant sunshine and riper fruit. The wine was fermented with native yeasts in 33% new oak.

This is a brilliant showcase of Mersault. While it showcases all the usual spellbinding charms and comforting ease of Burgundy, there is an extra layer of richness and savoury complexity here. The wine opens with a shy start, focusing on ruby grapefruit and apricot, but with some time you'll see riper stone fruits, bakery bread and aromatic spices. It's Tarte Tatin in a bottle, really. And it's stunning.
