The 2017 Domaine de l’Écu Germinus is a distinctive 100% Malbec made with biodynamically farmed fruit from Cahors in southwest France. It shows raspberry, wild strawberry and black cherry alongside darker berries, blood orange, violet, liquorice and savoury spice, offering a fresh and unconventional expression of Malbec.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied, energetic and remarkably fresh, with juicy red and dark berry fruit carried by bright acidity and fine tannins. Spontaneous fermentation is followed by maturation in amphorae, preserving fruit purity while adding texture without the flavour of oak. The finish is lively and persistent, with strawberry, floral, earthy and liquorice notes adding complexity.
