The 2016 Meadowbank Tasmania Sparkling Blanc de Blancs is an exceptional traditional-method sparkling wine from Tasmania’s Derwent Valley and, importantly, represents the inaugural vintage of Meadowbank’s Blanc de Blancs under winemaker Peter Dredge. Made entirely from Chardonnay grown in the Far Horse Vineyard block, the fruit comes from a south-facing parcel close to the vines used for Meadowbank Chardonnay. This cooler exposure allows the grapes to retain particularly high natural acidity, giving the wine the tension and longevity required for serious sparkling wine. Production was extremely small, with only around 150 cases produced, of which approximately 100 cases were initially released and 50 held back for later release.
