2009 Billecart-Salmon Louis Salmon is a flagship prestige Blanc de Blancs Champagne, crafted from 100% Chardonnay sourced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs, including Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant and Chouilly. It represents the house’s signature philosophy of finesse, precision and mineral purity, with a low dosage (around 3.75 g/L) enhancing its clarity and structure.
The nose is intensely expressive and layered, showing lemon oil, pear and mandarin, alongside white flowers, brioche, almond and subtle spice. With time in the glass, additional notes of pastry, honey and chalky minerality emerge, reflecting both the warm 2009 vintage and extended lees ageing.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a creamy yet finely chiselled texture and very fine bubbles. Citrus, stone fruit and pastry notes are supported by vibrant acidity and a pronounced saline, mineral backbone, leading to a long, precise and persistent finish. The 2009 vintage combines richness with freshness, delivering both immediate appeal and strong ageing potential.
