The 1990 Domaine de Poutëou Bas-Armagnac is a beautifully mature vintage Armagnac from a small family estate in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, one of France’s most revered brandy-producing regions. Produced primarily from the traditional Baco grape and distilled using a classic Armagnac column still, the spirit was aged for more than three decades in oak casks before bottling at a natural strength of 46.5% ABV. Domaine de Poutëou is highly regarded for its artisanal, single-vintage Armagnacs that capture both the character of the vintage and the estate’s unique terroir.

The nose is rich and complex, revealing candied orange, dried apricot and fig alongside notes of exotic spice, roasted nuts and polished oak. The palate is generous and beautifully evolved, with layers of dried fruit, dark chocolate, coffee bean and baking spice supported by remarkable freshness. Decades of maturation have created exceptional depth and harmony, while the long finish lingers with notes of cocoa, toffee and warm spice. The 1990 vintage is particularly noted for its combination of maturity, richness and elegance.

Ben’s Recommendation:
A superb mature Bas-Armagnac that offers extraordinary complexity and character. Rich, warming and deeply satisfying, it is best enjoyed neat in a large glass after dinner, alongside dark chocolate, roasted nuts or a fine cigar. Drinking beautifully now, this is a wonderful gift vintage and a memorable bottle for special occasions.
