The 2021 “The Last Chance” is the flagship single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Two Paddocks, sourced from a tiny 2-hectare terrace in Alexandra, Central Otago — one of the world’s southernmost vineyard sites, planted on low-fertility schist soils. Produced only in exceptional vintages, it represents the purest expression of site, with a strong emphasis on whole-bunch fermentation and minimal intervention.
The nose is intensely perfumed and complex, showing wild strawberry, redcurrant and cherry, layered with rose petal, thyme, dried herbs and subtle spice. There is a distinctive savoury and mineral edge, with floral lift and herbal nuances adding depth and precision.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a silky yet structured texture and fine, filigreed tannins. Bright red fruit, spice and earthy complexity are supported by vibrant acidity and a pronounced mineral backbone, leading to a long, elegant and persistent finish. The wine combines purity with depth, showing both immediate charm and serious ageing potential.

At Wine More Cellars, this is one of the most serious Central Otago Pinot Noir we offer — a true single-vineyard, collector-level wine. Compared to The First Paddock, this is more dramatic, more mineral and slightly more structured. Stylistically, it sits very close to Burgundy — focusing on savoury complexity, tension and terroir expression rather than fruit weight. This is not a simple Pinot — it’s layered, intellectual and age-worthy. Drink with decanting now or cellar for 10–15+ years. Perfect with duck, game birds, mushroom dishes or fine dining.
