The 2023 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Spätlese is a beautifully refined Riesling Spätlese from the steep Brauneberger Juffer vineyard in Germany's Mosel Valley, produced by one of the region's most historic and respected estates. The Brauneberg hillside is characterised by its extremely steep, south-facing slopes and weathered Devonian slate soils, creating ideal conditions for Riesling with exceptional ripeness while retaining vibrant acidity and mineral definition. For this Spätlese, Fritz Haag selects fruit from the cooler, higher-elevation sections of the Brauneberger Juffer, where slower ripening naturally preserves acidity and freshness. The grapes are gently pressed, spontaneously fermented and given extended ageing on fine lees, producing a wine that combines the greater concentration of Spätlese with the elegance and lightness that define the Fritz Haag style.
