The 2024 Frankland Estate Shiraz is a refined Frankland River red showing blackberry, dark cherry and plum alongside violet, cracked pepper, dried herbs and subtle earthy spice. The cool-climate conditions of Western Australia’s Great Southern give the wine a fresh, aromatic character, balancing its generous dark fruit with savoury and mineral detail.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied and finely structured, with vibrant acidity, supple tannins and layers of blackberry, dark cherry and ripe plum. Cracked pepper, violet and dried herbal notes add complexity through the mid-palate, while a subtle mineral character provides freshness and length. The tannins are firm enough to provide structure but remain polished and approachable, leading to a dry, balanced and persistent finish.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Shiraz drinkers who enjoy cool-climate Australian reds with generous fruit, peppery spice and fine structure. The wine is approachable in its youth but has enough acidity and tannin to develop additional savoury and earthy complexity with bottle age. Best enjoyed over the next 5–8 years. Pair with rosemary lamb backstrap, slow-braised beef cheek, venison with pepper jus, pork and fennel sausages, or roasted eggplant with smoked paprika and herbs.
