The 2023 Domaine Tollot-Gros L’O de la Vie is an expressive 100% Syrah from Cazelles in the Minervois, bringing Burgundian attention to detail to the character of southern France. Created by Anne Gros and Jean-Paul Tollot, the estate combines their experience with a focus on individual vineyard sites. L’O de la Vie comes from a two-hectare parcel on clay-limestone soils, beside the stream known locally as Rec del Vie, or "Stream of Life." Hand-harvested fruit is destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, with stainless-steel maturation preserving the wine’s fruit purity, freshness and distinctive aromatic character.
Expect mulberry, blackberry and dark cherry, complemented by flowers, pepper, Mediterranean herbs and subtle cured-meat notes. The palate combines generous fruit with lively acidity and fine tannins, creating an inviting balance between southern richness and freshness. Yohan Castaing awarded the 2023 wine 90 Points for The Wine Advocate, highlighting its floral and herbal aromas, delicate tannins and mouthwatering finish. Treve Ring also awarded 90 Points on Gismondi on Wine in February 2026, recognising its plush berry fruit, savoury detail and peppery character. This is an appealing Syrah with both immediate generosity and enough definition to remain engaging throughout a meal.
