The 2012 Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz is an exceptional single-vineyard wine from ancient, ungrafted vines in Eden Valley, including the original “Grandfathers” planted around 1860. It unfolds with blackberry, mulberry, cassis, Satsuma plum and tamarind, layered with sage, thyme, star anise, black pepper, Chinese five spice and subtle shiitake mushroom notes.
On the palate, it is concentrated yet remarkably controlled, with lush red plum, blackberry and mulberry complemented by black olive, cedar and savoury herbs. Bright acidity and fine, powdery tannins provide precision and longevity, while the fruit remains pure and beautifully integrated. The finish is seamless and exceptionally persistent, carrying blackcurrant, spice, sage and mineral notes.

At Wine More Cellars, this is one of Australia’s greatest single-vineyard Shiraz wines and a compelling addition to any serious collection. It is entering its early drinking window but will continue developing through 2055 and beyond. Decant for two to three hours if opened now. Ideal with roast lamb, venison, premium beef, duck, wild mushrooms or truffle-based dishes.
