The 1992 Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz is a mature expression of one of Australia’s most historic single-vineyard wines, produced from ungrafted vines in Eden Valley. It offers aromas of ripe blackberry and plum alongside lavender, cinnamon, black pepper and dried herbs, with developed notes of roasted chestnut, marzipan, beef stock, soy and gentle earth.
On the palate, it remains concentrated and sweetly fruited, with blackberry and redcurrant supported by structured acidity and fine, grainy tannins. Savoury notes of roasted nuts, chocolate, spice and mineral earth add complexity, leading to a firm, elegant and persistent finish. It is fully mature but well-stored bottles should still show impressive vitality.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a rare opportunity to experience mature Hill of Grace from an excellent vintage. Stand the bottle upright for at least 24 hours and decant gently for sediment immediately before serving; avoid prolonged aeration. Enjoy now through 2030, with condition strongly dependent on provenance and storage. Ideal with roast lamb, venison, beef, game birds, wild mushrooms or aged hard cheese.
