The 2021 Château Rauzan-Ségla is an exceptionally refined Second Growth Margaux from Bordeaux's Left Bank, produced by one of the historic estates classified as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification. The final blend is unusually Cabernet-driven at 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, with Petit Verdot excluded from the Grand Vin in this vintage. The 2021 season was considerably cooler and more challenging than the powerful 2018–2020 trilogy, but Rauzan-Ségla produced a particularly successful wine by focusing on precision, freshness and careful extraction. Only around 44–45% of the estate's production entered the Grand Vin, and the wine was matured with approximately 60% new French oak. The result is a distinctly classical Margaux: less about sheer concentration and more about perfume, structure and elegance.
