2012 Chateau Tronquoy-Lalande is a classic Saint-Estèphe Bordeaux from the Montrose estate team, presented here in a half bottle format, offering earlier accessibility while retaining the structure and character of the full-size release. The blend is typically Merlot-dominant with Cabernet Sauvignon and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, giving a balance of softness and structure.
The nose is expressive and evolving, showing blackcurrant, plum and dark cherry, layered with graphite, tobacco, cedar and subtle spice. With age, tertiary notes of leather, forest floor and earthy complexity emerge, giving a classic mature Bordeaux profile.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a smooth, rounded texture and increasingly integrated tannins. Dark fruit, savoury herbs and spice are supported by balanced acidity, leading to a long, elegant and slightly earthy finish. The 2012 vintage is now in a prime drinking window, showing a mix of remaining fruit and developed secondary complexity.
The half bottle format accelerates ageing slightly, meaning the wine is typically more open and ready to drink compared to a standard 750mL.
