The 2020 G.D. Vajra Barolo Albe is a beautifully expressive 100% Nebbiolo from high-elevation vineyards in the commune of Barolo, Piedmont. Albe is conceived as a tribute to the traditional Barolo masters who blended different vineyards to create complexity and balance, rather than focusing exclusively on individual crus. The fruit comes from vineyards between 380 and 480 metres above sea level, traditionally including Fossati, Coste di Vergne and La Volta, whose different exposures inspired the name Albe - "sunrises" - because the family sees the sun rise three times while moving between the vineyards. The 2020 growing season was unusually long, producing highly aromatic Nebbiolo with excellent freshness and beautifully developed tannins.
