The 2023 Yalumba Vine Vale Grenache Magnum (1500ml) is a vibrant old-vine Grenache from Vine Vale in the Barossa Valley, presented in a collectible large format. Part of Yalumba's Distinguished Sites collection, the wine comes from two remarkable blocks in the Tri-Centenary Vineyard, planted in 1929 and 1949. These old bush vines grow on the deep sandy soils characteristic of Vine Vale, conditions that have historically helped protect old Grenache vines while producing wines with perfume, fine tannins and remarkable freshness. The two blocks were harvested separately on 24 and 25 March 2023, then wild fermented individually, with approximately 40% whole bunch in one parcel and 33% in the other, before spending around six months in older French oak puncheons.
The 2023 is a particularly expressive example, showing cherry, raspberry, blueberry and mulberry alongside lavender, violet, bergamot, bitter orange, rosemary and subtle smoky spice.
