VALENTIN LEFLAIVE

Valentin Leflaive is a Champagne house founded by Valentin Leflaive, a member of the famous Leflaive family from Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy — a name synonymous with some of the world’s greatest white wines. The Leflaive family is best known for Domaine Leflaive, one of Burgundy’s most prestigious producers, particularly renowned for its Puligny-Montrachet and Grand Cru white Burgundies. Drawing on that deep Burgundian expertise with Chardonnay, Valentin Leflaive decided to create a Champagne label that expresses the same precision, terroir expression, and purity associated with the family’s wines.

The Champagne project is based in Oger, in the Côte des Blancs, an area famous for its Chardonnay-based Champagnes. The house focuses on single-village and single-vintage cuvées, aiming to highlight the terroir-driven style of each plot. Winemaking combines Burgundian vinification techniques — such as small oak barrel aging and low dosage — with Champagne’s traditional methods, resulting in elegant, detailed, and mineral-driven wines.

Valentin Leflaive’s Champagnes are defined by elegance, precision, and a Chardonnay-focused character. With minimal intervention, low dosage, and extended lees aging, the wines show fine texture, purity, and a refined mineral backbone, echoing Burgundian finesse within a Champagne framework. Among its notable releases are the Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Extra Brut, made from Chardonnay sourced from Oger, Avize, and Cramant, offering linear citrus notes and chalky minerality, and the Brut Rosé, which displays subtle red fruit tones, crisp acidity, and delicate structure. The Collection VL range further highlights the individuality of terroir and vintage, showcasing the sophisticated style that defines Valentin Leflaive Champagne.
