TENUTA DI BISERNO
Tenuta di Biserno is a prestigious wine estate in the Alta Maremma region of western Tuscany, Italy, set among the rolling hills near the historic village of Bibbona, just north of the well-known Bolgheri wine area. The estate was founded in 2001 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori together with his brother Piero Antinori, nephew Niccolò Marzichi Lenzi and partner Umberto Mannoni, as a new chapter in Italian winemaking focused on producing world-class wines from a distinctive coastal terroir.
Tenuta di Biserno sits on nearly 50 hectares of vineyards planted mainly to classic Bordeaux grape varieties — Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot — chosen for their suitability to the estate’s diverse soils of alluvium, clay and Bolgheri-style conglomerate, influenced by the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea. The marine breezes and hillside exposures contribute to balanced ripening and structure in the wines.
The estate’s flagship wine is “Biserno”, a red blend crafted in the style of a classic Bordeaux that combines elegance, complexity, depth and length, and is regarded as the signature expression of the estate’s terroir and vision. Another notable cuvée is “Il Pino di Biserno”, also a Bordeaux-style blend, known for its approachable yet refined character and excellent persistence.
In addition to its red blends, Tenuta di Biserno produces other wines reflecting the richness of its vineyards and microclimate, and the estate often features in high-end wine collections and tastings. The project has earned acclaim for establishing itself quickly as one of Tuscany’s modern benchmarks for elegant, sophisticated wines outside the traditional DOC system, classified primarily as Toscana IGT.
