The 2019 Cambria Julia’s Vineyard Pinot Noir is an expressive 100% Pinot Noir from Santa Maria Valley in California’s Santa Barbara County, combining bright red fruit with savoury spice and coastal freshness. Julia’s Vineyard is named after Julia Jackson, daughter of Cambria’s founders Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke. Its marine-influenced soils include fossilised seashells, shale, limestone and sand, giving the vineyard a distinctive setting for Pinot Noir. Pacific breezes and fog help extend the growing season, allowing flavour to develop while preserving acidity. This balance of ripe fruit and freshness is central to Cambria’s interpretation of Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir.
The 2019 offers pomegranate, cranberry, tart cherry and raspberry, complemented by toasted spice, dried herbs and earthy notes. Its medium-bodied palate combines inviting fruit with balanced tannins and a savoury finish. Jeb Dunnuck awarded it 90 Points, praising its elegant texture and aromatic combination of spiced cherries, raspberry and smoky earth. Wine Enthusiast also awarded 90 Points, with Matt Kettmann highlighting mint, pomegranate and strawberry flavours alongside earthy and herbal complexity.
