The 2023 La Spinetta Barbera d’Asti Superiore Cà di Pian is a vibrant Piedmont red made from 100% Barbera grown around Castagnole delle Lanze, Costigliole d’Asti and Montegrosso d’Asti. The nose shows blackberry, Morello cherry and plum with violet, liquorice and subtle spice, reflecting the estate’s mature vines and calcareous marl soils.
On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied and juicy, with lively Barbera acidity, ripe dark fruit and fine tannins. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats before maturation in used French oak, adding gentle spice and savoury depth without masking the fruit.
