The 2022 Les Cortis Vin de France Naxide Blanc is a beautifully textured and deeply mineral alpine white from the tiny organic estate of Isabelle and Jérémy Decoster in the Bugey region of eastern France. Crafted from a blend of roughly 60% Chardonnay and 40% Altesse (Roussette), the wine comes from high-elevation limestone and stony hillside parcels planted with old vines, some approaching 65 years of age. Unlike the domaine’s fresher Mérune cuvée, Naxide undergoes extended élevage in barrel and demi-muid on fine lees, giving the wine additional depth, complexity and structure while preserving its striking mountain freshness.
On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with vibrant natural acidity, layered texture and a tightly focused mineral core. Notes of green apple, preserved lemon, ripe pear and apricot are balanced by saline freshness, wet stone minerality and subtle almond and brioche complexity from lees ageing. The finish is long, chalky and beautifully persistent, combining alpine tension with gentle richness and remarkable finesse. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur, reflecting the domaine’s low-intervention philosophy and commitment to purity and terroir transparency.
