The Champagne Suenen Grand Cru Oiry Blanc de Blancs La Cocluette 2017 (Disgorged June 2023) is a beautifully precise and mineral-driven grower Champagne from one of the Côte des Blancs’ most exciting terroir-focused producers. Produced entirely from Grand Cru Chardonnay grown in the La Cocluette parcel in Oiry, the wine reflects Aurélien Suenen’s restrained low-intervention approach, emphasising chalky tension, saline freshness and vineyard transparency. The nose reveals preserved lemon, green apple and white peach layered alongside white flowers, brioche and crushed chalk minerality, giving the wine remarkable lift and finesse.
On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with exceptionally fine mousse, vibrant natural acidity and a tightly coiled mineral core. Layers of citrus peel, orchard fruit and delicate lees complexity are balanced by saline freshness and deep chalky tension, finishing long, dry and beautifully persistent with outstanding precision and ageing potential. The balanced 2017 vintage contributes subtle textural depth while preserving the wine’s linear structure and energetic freshness.
