The 2018 Domaine de l'Oliver Grenaudière Muscadet Clisson is a premium cru Muscadet from one of the Loire Valley’s most distinctive appellations. Produced from old-vine Melon de Bourgogne grown on the granite-rich soils of Clisson, the wine benefits from extended ageing on lees, a hallmark of the cru system that adds depth, texture and complexity. The warm and balanced 2018 vintage has produced a wine of remarkable concentration while retaining the freshness and minerality that define great Muscadet.
The nose reveals ripe lemon, pear and white peach alongside notes of brioche, almond and wet stone. The palate is layered and textured, combining generous orchard fruit with vibrant acidity and a pronounced saline mineral backbone. Hints of beeswax, citrus peel and subtle nuttiness emerge through a long, complex finish. Richer and more structured than traditional Muscadet, it showcases the impressive ageing potential of the Clisson cru.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A serious Loire white that offers outstanding value for lovers of Chablis and fine white Burgundy. Complex, mineral and beautifully balanced, it pairs superbly with oysters, lobster, scallops, grilled fish and creamy seafood dishes. Drinking beautifully now, it will continue to evolve through 2030–2035, gaining further texture and complexity with age.
