The 2021 Armand Heitz Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is an exceptional Premier Cru Chardonnay from Les Perrières, widely regarded as one of the greatest vineyards of Meursault in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. The vineyard takes its name from the abundance of stones found throughout the site and lies close to an old quarry, with exceptionally shallow soils, very little clay and sections where the limestone bedrock comes almost directly to the surface. These conditions explain the distinctive personality of Perrières: compared with the broader richness often associated with Meursault, the wines are typically more linear, mineral and tightly structured. Armand Heitz farms the vineyard according to his principles of agroecology and regenerative agriculture, with the objective of allowing this exceptional terroir to speak as clearly as possible.
