The 2024 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Clos St Jean Rouge is a rare and highly compelling Pinot Noir from one of Chassagne-Montrachet’s historically important red-wine Premier Cru sites. The 2023 vintage marked Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey’s first release from Clos St Jean, adding an exciting red Burgundy to a domaine internationally renowned for its exceptional white wines.
The 2024 is notably fine yet concentrated, combining red and black fruits with floral and mineral nuances. Around 50% whole bunches were used in fermentation, bringing aromatic lift and savoury complexity. The palate shows impressive density and substance, with fine tannins, fresh acidity and excellent drive through the finish. Early tasting impressions describe it as complex, structured and particularly refined.
Ben's Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a fascinating bottle for collectors of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey and serious red Burgundy. Clos St Jean traditionally produces some of Chassagne-Montrachet’s more structured and age-worthy Pinot Noir, while PYCM brings remarkable precision and finesse to the site. The 2024 combines depth with freshness and should develop beautifully with bottle age. Drink from 2029 onwards or cellar for 10–15+ years. Perfect with duck, roast pigeon, quail, lamb and wild mushroom dishes.
