BEAUJOLAIS
Beaujolais is a well-known wine region in eastern France, located just south of Burgundy, and is celebrated for producing fresh, fruit-driven red wines primarily from the Gamay grape. The region has gained global recognition for its approachable style, as well as its diverse range of quality levels, from easy-drinking wines to more structured crus.
Beaujolais benefits from a semi-continental climate with warm summers and cooling influences that help preserve acidity. The northern part of the region, where the Beaujolais Crus are located, features granite and schist soils that contribute to wines with greater depth, minerality, and aging potential.
The region is best known for Gamay, which produces wines with bright red fruit flavors, floral notes, and soft tannins. While Beaujolais Nouveau represents the youthful and vibrant style released shortly after harvest, the ten Beaujolais Crus—such as Morgon, Fleurie, and Moulin-à-Vent—offer more complexity, structure, and longevity.
