The 2024 Chalmers Nero d’Avola is an estate-grown Heathcote red from rocky soils rich in basalt, shale, quartz and limestone. Bright and aromatic, it shows berry compote and dark cherry with liquorice, black olive, new leather and subtle savoury notes.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied, juicy and energetic, with fresh acidity and fine, gravelly tannins. Whole-berry wild fermentation in stainless steel preserves the fruit, while eight months on lees adds texture. The finish is crunchy, savoury and well defined.
